Introduction to PVC Rigid Sheet

PVC rigid sheet is a rigid panel manufactured primarily from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin, with the addition of small amounts of processing aids such as stabilizers and lubricants, through high-temperature extrusion or lamination processes. Based on formulation and process, the product can be categorized into types such as standard rigid sheet, transparent sheet, food-grade sheet, and modified reinforced sheet (e.g., CPVC high-temperature resistant sheet). It boasts excellent mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing.

In terms of material characteristics, PVC rigid sheet offers outstanding rigidity, dimensional stability, and electrical insulation. Its chemical corrosion resistance is exceptional, withstanding the attack of most acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents. Through formulation adjustments, products with different levels of transparency, colors, and special functions (e.g., UV resistance, anti-static) can be obtained. The surface can undergo secondary processing such as printing, lamination, and embossing.

Leveraging its combined advantages of high strength, corrosion resistance, and flame retardancy, PVC rigid sheet has become a key material in fields including chemical anti-corrosion, advertising signage, architectural decoration, and electronics/electrical applications. It is widely used in scenarios such as electroplating tanks, pickling equipment, advertising lightboxes, cleanroom partitions, and equipment protective covers, serving as a high-quality substitute for metals, glass, and some engineering plastics.

Key Notes

1.  Processing & Joining Guidelines:

       Machining: Recommend using carbide tools with low speed and high feed rates to avoid overheating and material melting/sticking to the tool.

       Thermoforming: Heat to 130-150°C to soften; ensure uniform heating to prevent localized overheating and charring.

       Welding: Use PVC-specific welding rods (composition matching the sheet). Hot air gun temperature: 350-400°C. Ensure weld seam strength.

       Bonding: Use PVC-specific adhesive (e.g., cyclohexanone-based solvent cement or two-component polyurethane structural adhesive). Surfaces must be cleaned and degreased.

2.  Selection & Design Recommendations:

       Outdoor Use: Must select a UV-stabilized formulation to prevent yellowing and embrittlement.

       Load-Bearing Structures:** Select sufficient thickness based on mechanical calculations, or design with reinforcing ribs. CPVC sheet offers higher rigidity and is suitable for high-temperature load-bearing environments.

       Food/Medical Contact: Always select grades certified as food-grade or medical-grade.

       Dimensional Accuracy: PVC rigid sheet has thermal expansion/contraction (linear expansion coefficient ~7×10⁻⁵ /°C). Design must allow for clearance.
